High Country Events for April, 2019

  1. The World of Musicals
    April 5th – 7pm – Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts @ 733 Rivers St. Boone, NC
    The World of Musicals brings the very best of musical theatre to life. This captivating production is an emotional journey through the great world of musicals that will leave audiences spell-bound and singing along to their favorite show tunes from the musicals and movies they love. Adults $25, ASU Faculty/Staff $20, Students/Children $10.
  2. 40th Annual Blowing Rock Trout Derby
    April 6th – 8am-5pm – The Blowing Rock Clubhouse @ 108 Lakeside Dr. Blowing Rock, NC
    The annual Trout Derby celebrates some of the best trout fishing anywhere in the Southeast with a family-friendly early spring event. Derby hours range from sunrise to 4pm. No entry fee; no pre-registration! Once you’ve caught your prize-winning trout, bring it to the Blowing Rock Clubhouse to be measured and possibly take home a prize. Kids will find plenty of activities at the Clubhouse and should show up early for a goody bag.
  3. SNIPS Spring Fling Craft Sale
    April 13th – 9am-8pm – Boone Mall Center Court @ 1118 Blowing Rock Rd. Boone, NC
    SNIPS of Watauga Humane Society will host a gigantic craft sale with hundreds of handmade items. Shop Easter goods, soup cozies, embroidery, cross-stitch, hand-knitted dish cloths & scrubbies, rope & fabric baskets, doggie bowties & blankets, catnip fish & kicksticks, bird seed wreaths & ornaments, jewelry, pottery and more. All proceeds benefit area low cost spay/neuter services.
  4. East EGGStravaganza
    April 13th – 2pm-4pm – Watauga County Public Library @ 140 Queen St. Boone, NC & Downtown Boone
    EGGStravaganza is Boone’s big Easter celebration! Start your little ones at Watauga Public Library to visit the Easter Bunny and participate in numerous Easter activities throughout the library. Then walk over to The Jones House for an Easter Egg Hunt. Kids will also enjoy crafts, snacks, face painting and local favorite, Twist the Balloon Man.
  5. Early Bird Wildflower Walk & Plant Sale
    April 20th – 8am-12pm – Daniel Boone Native Gardens @ 651 Horn in the West Dr. Boone, NC
    12th annual sale is a free event for the whole family of nature lovers. Native plants will be available from local vendors, who try to offer harder to find beauties ranging from wildflowers to shrubs. Enjoy the gardens with over 200 types of bloom, discuss plant options with experts, hike Strawberry Hill arboretum and visit historic Squire Boone Cabin.
